In my office in Berlin Mitte I offer two different therapies: approx. 300 hours of psychoanalysis and approx. 140 hours of depth psychological psychotherapy.

My hourly rate for 50 minutes is 140,76 Euro (fee schedule for psychotherapists). In my practice, 22 hours per week are reserved for patients with statutory health insurance. Therefore, the hourly rate for self-payers and privately insured patients does not take into account any social scaling.
Payment for therapy is made in advance. Patients who receive long-term therapy (psychoanalysis and depth psychology psychotherapy) pay for the hours for the respective month in advance. Acute therapies (24 hours) are invoiced in advance in two blocks of 12 hours each.
Private health insurances also cover the costs if this is provided in their catalogue of benefits.
Of course, it is also possible to pay for the treatment yourself.
In principle, psychotherapy is a benefit of the statutory health insurance. This means that the statutory health insurance funds cover the costs of psychotherapy. The path to my practice for patients with statutory health insurance runs exclusively through the appointment service of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Berlin.
Tax deductibility of psychotherapy costs
Costs for medical treatments that are not paid by your health insurance and exceed a certain base amount in total can be claimed as an "extraordinary burden" in your tax return. The base amount is approximately between 1-7 % of your basic income - until then, the expenses are considered a reasonable burden for the tax office. You can obtain more detailed information about formalities to be observed and standard values from your responsible tax office or a tax advisor. In some cases, a medical certificate is required, which has been issued before the start of therapy and confirms that the therapy is medically necessary.
